Athletes. People who strive to go beyond limits. People who choose to stand up and sweat it out instead of sitting in front of the computer browsing youtube all day. One would imagine members of our national teams eating ten pounds of meat and sparring against lions in the morning; but at the end of the day, they are human too. They sweat, they get tired, they secretly watch local dramas in the evening, and they occasionally need to take an emergency dump after running a gazillion laps.

And when these athletes do whatever it is athletes do in Ultra, what kind of restroom would they be running into?

Why is it blurry? I just jogged 10 feet.

Unfortunately, even using this restroom can be a challenge. The toilets don’t flush, only one sink works in the men’s room, toilet paper is non existent, and a delightful mix of urine and sweat is in the air. Perhaps they were designed to piss the athletes off. They would probably release their frustrations on the field.

It's just dirt, don't worry.

I'd like to imagine three ladies freshening up while talking about the handsome import, but all I can think about are the numerous ways they could actually kick my ass.

The dirt from the field is definitely acceptable, seeing that this is Ultra and not Gold’s Gym. It would have been better if the athletes had better facilities though. I remember the restrooms from the university I went to. STUDENTS ACTUALLY WENT TO THE GYM TO TAKE A CRAP. Yeah, they were that great.

Well, “raising additional funds for the improvement of Ultra’s restrooms” is probably at the bottom part of management’s list of priorities (next to “hire more guards to catch trespassers”), but I sure wish they could do better. Make the facilities actually work… or make the faucets flow with gatorade or something.

Over the past few years, YouTube has evolved into the number 1 video website and time waster. In a site where you could find everything from life changing inspirational shit to people reacting to videos of people doing something about shit, you could say that youtube has become a cesspool of whatever things humanity wants to record on video. With the gajillion videos uploaded yearly, it is no surprise that in every one million uploaded, there are probably only a couple that make sense.

And in every million, there are probably a hundred that are AMV’s (Anime Music Video). To put it simply, AMV’s are like music videos, but unlike the nonsensical crap they use in music videos, AMV’s instead use nonsensical crap from anime. You would be surprised at how many AMV’s are available for your viewing pleasure in youtube:

Damn it.

There it is. In terms of the number of videos in youtube, “AMV’s” and “God” are in the same category. So yeah, we’re doomed. What is it exactly about AMV’s that make them so damn popular? I never was a fan of AMV’s (I chance upon them when searching for a song, honest!), but I have one theory: You can use any damn song. Don’t believe me?

Pardon Me by Incubus. It’s not surprising that rock music can be used for AMV’s. Just get a rock song and clip together a bunch of fight scenes and you’re all set.

Some hiphop song. I never thought I’d hear the N word while watching Dragonball clips. Didn’t finish watching, the first minute made my head hurt.

Money Money Money by Abba. I was like “Haha they probably don’t have an AMV for an Abba song!” Then I shit my pants. By the way, this anime is familiar to me. It’s about some guys who turn into zodiac animals or something when they get close to a girl. I totally see the link here.

Elvis. The King must be turning in his grave.

Ave Maria… well a bastardized version of the song at least. Oh yeah, the anime featured here is Sailor Moon, but just for this video, it’s the song that bothers me. WTF is up with this version? It’s like one of those horny spanish songs. What’s next, Ave Maria by Aqua?

Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional. This AMV plays an emo song while showing Pokemon clips of Charizard. “Well, I think this song fits Charizard very well.” the author says. Well, whatever floats your bubble really. Personally, I think we should get more of this instead:

Papercut by Linkin Park. It almost seems that any action clip when paired with any Linkin Park song results to a teenager’s wet dream. In case you didn’t know, there are thousands of AMV’s for Linkin Park songs.

Instead of making AMV’s, can’t we just make/upload more videos that can actually be helpful to society? How about some videos about saving the planet, or fighting aids?
